Lottie London Nail Polishes - Swatches and Review

Lottie London Nail Polish Swatch and Review - www.hairnailsetc.com

If you've been into Superdrug recently, or even had a browse on their website, you might have noticed a new brand has arrived called Lottie London. Their range of nail polish, nail tools and make up brushes has really caught my attention, mainly because the packaging and branding is really cute - 'Selfie Ready Beauty' - I'm probably too old for that but I was sucked in anyway!

So in my recent haul, I picked up a few of the Lottie London polishes, and a couple of the make up brushes too. I was very lucky to find a fully stocked stand in my local Superdrug, and I reckon there must be about 60 different nail polishes in the range - it was so hard to just pick out 4! I ended up choosing 4 rather sober, creme colours, but there are plenty of brighter shades and fun glitter polishes available too... I'll probably be going back for those very soon!

As you can see, one of the lovely things about this range is the packaging; the square bottles are nice and chunky, and they line up prettily on my polish shelf (that's actually quite important to me!). The polishes also have great names like 'Stay Weird', 'Happy Hump Day' and 'Classy Gal'. Obviously the names don't make any difference to the polishes themselves but it's still a nice touch, and as you can probably tell, the names did influence my purchase decisions!

Blogger Babe

3 coats, no top coat
One of those tricky nude-ish colours, a lilac-beige-grey kind of shade. Very grown up and definitely office-friendly, but interesting at the same time. If you're a fan of Nails Inc - Porchester Square, you'd probably like this polish. The formula was thin, but easy to apply and built up easily.

Hit Refresh

A pure, peach nude. I think it matches my skin tone almost perfectly, and it feels like 'my nails but better' if that's a thing?! Again the formula was on the thin side, not overly pigmented, but was just about opaque in three coats.

Retweet

3 coats, no top coat
Of course I had to buy a mint green - I'm so predictable! This is a lovely version of my favourite polish colour, it's not too bright, not too pale, and perfectly in the middle of blue and green. The formula was fairly thin, again, it was almost opaque in two coats but really needed the third to be completely even.

Schools Out (School's Out?)

3 coats, no top coat
(Is it just me or should there be an apostrophe in there?) A pastel peachy pink. This isn't the most exciting colour for me, I think it would look a lot better actually on a darker skin tone, but it's a colour I was missing in my collection (probably!) and I think it will be perfect for summery gradient nail art. Same formula as the others, thin but build-able and very easy to use.

Overall

I'm quite taken with this collection; everything from the colour range, to the fun names to the pretty packaging. One of the best things about these polishes is the brush; it's long, not too wide, with a clean flat edge, and just seems to apply the polish beautifully. Hardly any clean up was required when I was doing these swatches, they just went on exactly where I wanted them, and I think that's the mark of a great polish.

As for wear-time, I had School's Out on my nails for three full days at work (in an office) and they held up very well with just minor tip wear. Quite impressive considering I wasn't wearing top coat. The only downside I can find here is the formula, they all needed 3 coats to reach full opacity because they just weren't pigmented enough. Admittedly they did dry very quickly so it wasn't a problem to go back a third time, it's just I'm quite fussy and demanding! They may be 'drugstore' polishes but at £5.99 each, they're not cheap either!

What do you think of these Lottie London nail polishes?
Have you tried anything from this brand?
