If you've been into Boots or Superdrug recently, you may have noticed that Rimmel have not only added some new Spring/Summer collections but they've also completely revamped their whole nail polish line!
The new range of 60 polishes claim to deliver 'high impact colour' and 'dry in under a minute' - bold claims for a product that only costs £2.99. Needless to say, I was keen to try them out, and I have two here for you today. The first is a bright yellow, 'Chin Up Buttercup', which I picked up in Boots as part of their current 3 for 2 promotion. The second, 'Wedge of Lime', was very kindly sent to me from Rimmel following a little giveaway competition they held on Twitter last week.
Chin Up, Buttercup
3 coats, no top coat.First thing's first: I love this colour. Bright yellow polishes are strangely rare and are notorious for having terrible streaky formula. I'm pleased to say this one held up well, the colour is just about opaque in 3 thin coats; if you look closely the finish is still a tiny bit patchy but I'm sure a coat of top coat would help smooth this out. It's a fabulously vibrant yellow tone, probably not the most flattering shade for me but I don't care, I love brights and it will hopefully be really useful for nail art.
Wedge of Lime
2 coats, no top coat.Again a brilliant bright colour, this time a yellow-toned lime green. The formula for this polish was very good; it applied easily and was fully opaque in 2 thin coats. As a fan of bright colours this is perfect for me.
Overall I'm very pleased with these two polishes, and I'm keen to try out more from the updated 60 Seconds collection. My favourite thing about these polishes is the amazing wide brush. Lots of polishes claim to have a one-stroke brush but I still need to make two or three swipes to cover my (large?) nails. Rimmel's brush actually is wide enough, and it's carefully curved at the tip to fit the cuticle. This means it really is very quick and easy to apply the polish, and is a great addition especially considering the affordable price.
As for the dry time; I think these definitely do dry quicker than a standard polish, but I still wouldn't recommend sticking your hands in your pockets for at least 10-15 minutes. And obviously if you really are in a hurry then you might not have time to paint three coats of polish.... The finish is shiny, not 'super shiny' but pleasant enough. Having said all that I would normally use a quick-dry top coat over all my manicures which somewhat negates these features.

These polishes look great for the price. I think rimmel really put thought into perfecting this product. Could you please show the curved brush of the polish?
