A bit more nail art today, feel like I'm on a roll at the moment. With the start of a new season and lots of new products being released comes added nail inspiration, which is great for me as I try to distract myself from spending too much money!
I don't really know where the idea for this came from; I was simply staring at my polishes on their shelves and (as usual!) was drawn to my rainbow of Barry M Nail Paints. So I grabbed a handful of pastel colours and set about smooshing them all onto my nails.
To start, I painted two coats of white polish to act as a base. Next I opened up all the pastel colours and started painting random spots onto a makeup sponge, and then I pressed the sponge onto my nail. Then I re-painted the spots and applied again. And again. And again. It took a loooong time for these pale colours to build up but the good thing is this gradual application helped the colours to blend together really well. When I was finally happy with the colour intensity I covered all the nails with matte top coat. Once completely dry, I used a combination of normal sticky tape and thin striping tape to mark out the stripes across the centre of the nails. Then I painted the glitter polish on a clean makeup sponge and applied it over the tape (I chose to apply the glitter polish with a sponge as this reduces the amount of liquid being left on the nail and intensifies the amount of actual glitter pieces giving a more concentrated effect). That's it! I didn't use any more top coat as I wanted to maintain the contrast between the matte pastels and the shiny glitter.
Polishes Used
- Barry M Gelly Nail Paint - Coconut (white base)

I hope you like this girly manicure! It was nice to use some of the Classic Nail Paints for a change, I feel like the Gelly range seems to get all the attention at the moment and these often get forgotten, but these are some of the staple colours in my collection. And this has reminded me that we're due some new Limited Edition Barry M polishes soon... wonder what they will do this year!
